Thinking about Nomo

Remember the only time Dad actually watched American sports--when Nomo came to the Dodgers? I was looking for pennants on ebay for Caleb's room and came across a sweet nomo one that was going for 90 big ones.

Any memories about Dad and baseball/sports in general?

Mom, I am counting on you big time.

  2. Ichiro Suzuki went to the MLB in 2001. The day before he died, Dad asked me to look up his previous week's scores.

  3. Daddy loved Sumo, and some Japanese baseball, but Japanese baseball games moved too slowly for him, so Nomo was perfect! Sumo wrestling was a favorite, and remained a favorite. Daddy would even rent videos at the Japanese store to watch recent tournaments (before the advent of the computer, an d before the Japanese store became a Korean/Mexican food store...)

Football never was even remotely interesting...he watched a little with grandpa a few times, but as I remembered he would (purposely) yell things like "homerun!!!" when a touchdown was made, etc. I think they both got a kick out of it!!!

  4. LOL. I remember the home-run thing! I also remember dad playing softball for our ward team. He was the only man in polyester pants and NIKE's :)
